Big Balaklava treble for Akhadan
8th September 2008

Oakside Park Stud's resident Danehill horse Akhadan starred on Balaklava Cup day siring a trio of winners on the support card.

Akhee opened proceedings in the fourth scoring an empatic two length win in the Don Pasuclli Memorial Maiden Plate (1200m) for trainer David Balfour and star apprentice Amy Hermann.

Sister Akhapacs weighed in next posting a strong three length victory in the sixth - the Angus Securities Gold Handicap (1400m) - giving jockey Simon Price the third of his four winners for the day.

Akhameela completed a race to race double when he took out the seventh, and completed the treble for Akhadan, when successful in the Bardrill Corporation Plate (1600m) winning by a decisive two lengths.

In a boost for the stud both Akhee (ex Esprit de Jeune by Jeune) and Sister Akhapacs (ex Sister Doloris by Devaraja) were bred and reared at Oakside Park by stud owner Dr. Trevor Harrington.

Akhandan stands the 2008 season for $4,400.
