Working hard at both ends of the race, Bundle O' Gold ($5.00) held on strongly by a long neck to beat off a challenge from Sydney raider Moonboat which started favourite at $3.30. Brazen Hussey ($6.00) was third, a half neck away. Bundle O' Gold is trained by Paul Seater who was tending All Star at Morphettville but was ably assisted by his wife Sue, who saddled up the Devaraja gelding. "He didn't rest much but he kept finding something", was the comment from winning rider Steven Arnold. Margaret and Jack Reddin were on hand to see the win. The couple have been friendly with the Seaters for many years and took advantage of the opportunity to buy a half share in Bundle O' Gold when it was offered to them. Margaret's name is in the race book as the owner but she readily admits that Jack, a retired vet "pays the bills". Actually Bundle O' Gold is now paying his own training bills in fine fashion, collecting another $36,400 today to add to his stash of $78,350 from 3 wins and 2 placings at previous starts. The Reddins expect that Bundle O' Gold will now stay in Melbourne for a couple more weeks in an attempt to add further to his cash haul with another race in similar class. Sue Seater bred Bundle O' Gold from her Danewin mare, Thanks A Bundle, a three quarter sister to handy galloper, stakes placed Diamond Jake. Thanks A Bundle is out of the County mare Bundle Of Thanks, winner of the AJC Widden Stakes at Listed level. The family also boasts Group 3 stakes winner Darbaas.
