Just half an hour from Adelaide near the historic hills hamlet of Hahndorf exists a little slice of horse heaven known as Oakside Park Stud.

This picturesque property, originally established by German settlers, is home to one of the most rapidly growing and successful thoroughbred operations in South Australia.

Owners Trevor and Jenny Harrington purchased the property nearly twenty years ago after the original German homestead had been renovated and the property set up for thoroughbreds by the previous owner.

Trevor, a dentist by trade, grew up a few doors down from the Semaphore stables of legendary trainer Colin Hayes, where his father ran a successful horse drawn carriage business.

Like most kids who grow up around horses Trevor became a competent rider, a skill he continued to develop over the years and one he now puts to good use in the stud's pre-training facility and with the local hunt club.

Trevor and wife Jenny purchased their Hahndorf property with ideas of agisting a few horses and only after being approached to stand a stallion did they make the transition to a thoroughbred racing and breeding stud.

In the years since the Harrington's have procured the stallions Devaraja and Akhadan for stud duties at Oakside and have bred and raced a number of handy performers themselves, none better than the dual stakes winning mare Raja Lane, a winner of $428,860.
